Overview
MeMex is a local-first macOS app that helps you build a private visual memory of your computer activity. The app is designed so captured timeline data is stored on your Mac by default.
Data Stored Locally
MeMex may store screen recordings, timeline metadata, reports, settings, and search indexes locally on your device. You can pause recording and delete local history from within the app.
Optional AI Providers
AI features are optional. Recording, timeline browsing, and local history management work without connecting any AI provider.
If you configure an OpenAI-compatible model provider and grant permission in the app, MeMex may send selected screen-derived content, screenshots or video-frame excerpts, timeline text, app or website context, timestamps, and your prompts directly to the endpoint and model you configure. This data is used to generate timeline cards, reports, insights, or assistant responses.
MeMex does not proxy these AI requests through a MeMex-hosted model service. API keys and provider settings are stored locally on your Mac. The provider you choose may process the submitted data under its own terms and privacy policy, so you should only connect providers you trust. If you use a local endpoint, the request goes to that local service instead of a third-party cloud provider.
Developer Collection
This App Store release does not require a hosted MeMex account. The developer does not receive your screen recordings, timeline content, prompts, API keys, or AI responses through a MeMex backend.
No Hosted MeMex Account Required
This release does not require a hosted MeMex account and does not include bundled AI credits or a hosted model service.
